Increasing concerns about the safety of the food supply and calls for reduction of chemical contaminants in the environment have caused researchers to step up advances in information on pesticides, analytical methods, and instrumentation. This collection of nine articles includes reviews of procedures and protocols as well as evaluations of instrumentation, addressing the classification and properties of specific pesticides, handling of pesticides in food and environmental samples, analysis by chromatographic techniques coupled with mass spectrometry, new techniques incorporating immunoassays and biosensors, quality assurance in analyzing pesticides, determination of pesticides in food of vegetable and animal origin, safety aspect of levels of pesticides in food, general monitoring of pesticides in the environment, and determination of pesticides in soil, water or air.
